Gold Coast After Hours Doctor operates a fully bulk-billed surgery in Southport, providing after hours GP services on weekends, nights and public holidays.
We treat many patients who travel to see us from Bundall. Our clinic is only a short 10 minute drive from the center of Bundall if travelling by car.
What is bulk billing?
Bulk billing, Veterans Affairs Card and Medicare are Government initiatives that pay doctors 85% to 100% of your medical bill for eligible services. This helps doctors by simplifying billing and helps make medical services more accessible to everyone.
In other words, your doctor charges Medicare directly for your visit to the doctor. In most cases, this means you could have the majority or full cost of the visit paid for by Medicare.
If you visit a non-bulk billing doctor, you will be required to make full payment. However, you can still claim back part of or even the full amount from Medicare for eligible services.
Medicare usually does not cover the following:
- ambulance services
- most dental services
- glasses, contact lenses and hearing aids
- cosmetic surgery.

The Southport medical clinic is open from 5 am till 8 am, and 6 pm till 12 midnight, Monday to Friday. On weekends and public holidays, we're open from 5 am till 12 midnight.
After 6pm the doctor is available for surgery and house calls. Telephone 07 5532 8666 to make arrangements or simply walk in to speak with our receptionist.
Receptionist in attendance 24 hours 7 days a week 365 days a year.
Emergencies
Patients who have symptoms of chest pain, severe shortness of breath and similar extreme problems are always directed to the hospital of their choice by ambulance.
